At least it is something on the subject. I may make one suggestion though. I am somewhat of an artist myself and my suggestion is this: With your style, I would go to charcoal, and work on the shading and other aspects as well. You have vast potential, but charcoal is not only a little easier to work with, but it allows you to work within a smaller range and makes you pay a little more attention to detail as opposed to color. I am 9 beers into my night right now, so I may be rambling, but if there is anything I know, whether it be graphic design, photo retouching or actual old fashioned art, it is that most people rely on color rather than shading. I see great potential, but the shading is what will take you from good to great. Just a suggestion....

I agree with Mjr. One of my friends was an art major and I saw him doing charcoal stuff, and you style begs for it. :)

i went to university for illustration and advertising. and i totally agree with meatpistols first statement.
i use pencil mainly as my medium. and i can take a photograph and reproduce it flawlessly(any size, NOT tracing lol).
and charcoal would be glorious in your hands. even watercolor is super easy to work with and can create amazing shades. give it a try!
if i had a scanner i could show you guys some stuff. i think you would definately approve. i'll work on it.

I can't say that I'm normally one to take part in threads here, regardless of their nature (that is *not* to say I don't appreciate all of the work that goes into the threads here... I most certainly do), but for some reason I felt compelled to join in on this one.
These are a couple of pieces that I did last year. I suppose they technically meet the NNG board criteria, so here you go.
This first one is of a model from one of my life drawing classes and took about 2 1/2 hours from start to finish. It's about 3'X3 1/2' (the dvd's in the photo give a pretty good sense of scale).
This next one is a composite of eight different lithographs. I originally started out just doing litho's of sections from a photo of Sandra Bullock that I enjoyed. As you can see, all of the litho's came up in reverse (part of the printing process... everything is backwards from how you draw it), but surprisingly they all fit relatively close together (not my original intent... if it had been, I'd have arranged some sort of grid so they'd be more precise). You can see both pictures here.
note: These prints combined are actually larger than the first photo I posted. They measure up at about 3'X4 1/2'.
