A while ago, I accidently reformated my hd with tons of my stuff still on it. Last night I used FileScavenger to see what I could recover. Started with the jpg's and got 12,000+ files back. Most of them were just web banners and 2k mini thumbs, but I managed to find 200 pics that I wanted. Jesus, there were pictures that must be years old, deleted and reformated many times and yet still there. I'm experimenting with a program called DeepDelete to see if it can permantly get rid of them, I'll let you know if it works.

Today I'm going after the jpeg's and other picture files, then the videos. I will post any good pix I can find, but It will still take a while.

Does anyone else used any recovery programs? What did YOU find on your hd?

Awesome bro. I haven't used a hard drive recovery program. I've had to have my hd reformatted enough and had info and files lost so now I try to back up enough. I've always wanted to know how one of those programs worked. Thanks

hey junk, i reloaded windows and now i get an error msg when i try to play any media file with media player.

it says something about the codec file, but downloaded every possible coded file imaginable and it's not working. now i can't play any video file at all.

any suggestions anyone? i can post the error i get in here if that will help.

i may just try installing windows again... but can i re-install windows over the previous one, even though it's updated?

Oh boy. I'm the wrong one to ask about this stuff. HHmmm, have you tried reinstalling media player? Nimo codec pack?

Or it could be that your windows boot cd is scratched or otherwise damaged, that happened to me once. I guess the best bet would be to reinstall windows, but I think your going to have to format it first.

shit, i really don't want to format again.

i think it is scratched cuz there was an error when i formatted and installed windows before. shit.

well, i may just try to reinstall windows xp over this version. i'll wait a bit just in case anyone out there has a better solution.

Yeah well errors during installing never mean anything good. I really have to learn to take better care of my cd's.
